Apple released iOS 27 on September 14, 2026, and Apple Intelligence is one of the update’s central features. The update does more than add a few cosmetic changes. It changes how the iPhone handles photos, web browsing, reminders, writing, image generation, and personal assistance. What is Apple Intelligence in iOS 27?

Apple Intelligence is Apple’s built-in artificial intelligence system. It works across apps such as Photos, Safari, Messages, Mail, Reminders, Shortcuts, and the Home app. Visual intelligence also helps the iPhone understand information in photos, on your screen, and around you.

Some tasks run directly on your iPhone. More demanding requests can use Apple’s cloud-based Private Cloud Compute system. 1. Siri AI finally understands more context

The most significant change is a new version of Siri called Siri AI.

2. Photos can reframe, extend, and clean up images

The Photos app gains several AI-powered editing tools. These features work alongside the Camera app to help you make changes after you capture an image.

Spatial Reframing lets you adjust a photo's perspective and composition after you take it. Instead of simply cropping the image, you can reposition the apparent viewpoint and generate content where the perspective has changed.

The Extend tool can expand a photo's edges. This may help when a subject is too close to the edge of the frame, when you need a different aspect ratio, or when you want to straighten a photo without cutting away important details.

3. Safari can organize research and monitor websites

Safari receives two especially practical Apple Intelligence features.

4. Image Playground can create photorealistic images

Apple’s Image Playground app can now create photorealistic images in addition to its earlier illustration, animation, and sketch-style results.

You can create an image from a written description, use people or objects from your photo library, and modify an existing image by describing the change or selecting part of the image with touch. Which iPhones support Apple Intelligence in iOS 27?

Apple Intelligence in iOS 27 is not available on every iPhone.

Apple lists support for:

• iPhone 15 Pro
• iPhone 15 Pro Max
• iPhone 16 models and later
• iPhone Duo
• iPhone Air

Apple Intelligence also works on selected iPads and Macs, including iPad models with the M1 chip or later and Macs with the M1 chip or later. Some features require a supported language and may not be available in every country or region. Should you install iOS 27?
